PermEntry Installation & Jobsite Requirements

ALL WALL TYPES (*see below for additional block/pre-fab/foam wall requirements)


  1. Opening in wall should be no larger than 40" wide (concrete to concrete, or block to block, but not wood to wood. 
  2. Do not place any reinforcement rod within one foot of the opening.
  3. Hole for unit should be large enough to allow room to work (8'wide x 10'out from wall).
  4. Make sure footer is exposed and clear of debris to 12" on either side of concrete opening.
  5. Verify size of step ordered with measurements (footer to grade).
  6. Hold waterproofing back 10" on each side of the opening in the foundation wall.
  7. Provide truck access to within 18' of the center of the PermEntry Unit.
  8. Provide clear access to the hole (all dirt piles, lumber, etc. cleared from truck path & the ground must be relatively firm.
  9. Area should be relatively dry (no standing water in the hole, no water over the footer, etc.)
  10. Provide at least 16" of concrete (inside and outside of basement) on both sides of the opening before any foundation corners.
  11. Final grade should be clearly marked on the foundation wall.
  12. Builders utilizing the "form-a-drain" type drainage system need to be sure no "couplings" are used within the area of installation (1' on either side of opening).
  13. Any installations on existing homes must have the newly exposed walls cleaned and brushed to insure proper seal.
  14. All wood forms must be removed prior to installation.
  15. If the floor has been poured prior to installation, it cannot exceed the outside of the foundation wall.


BLOCK WALL INSTALLATIONS (*pre-fab & foam walls also require a concrete jack pad)


In addition to the requirements above, block wall installations require additional site prep work as described below:

  1. A concrete pad for the support jack must be poured prior to installation.  Dimensions of the pad are based on the size of the PermEntry ordered and may require additional digging at the footer (call the office for diagram).
  2. All coving or block waterproofing must be held back 1' from either side of the 40" opening.
  3. Core-filling 2 blocks on either side of the opening is helpful, but not required.  Do not place any reinforcement rod within the 1st block (or within one foot from the opening).
